Performance
Sherry & MikeSHERRY, ADOPTION SIBLING OF MIKE
Mike: "Onze upon a time, Adam & Eve, Man & Woman. Now, after the 'Vita infiltrata', the whole story, my story, is completed with 'one who is two'. He = she & him = her.
My wonderfully beautiful adoption sibling, Sherry Fae Francis. 'The Third Gender'! And I am like a four year old again and lurn to the fullest."

Elly & Nii TackieNII TACKIE, ADOPTION FATHER OF ELLY
Elly: "What a impressive man, sitting at the head of the table at Akwaaba, a centre in the heart of De Bijlmer district, where he is warmly welcomed twice a weak. Hat on, a nice suit, shiny eyes and a inquisitive look. from Ghana, where, when, why, any language; we understand each other and my ears are filled with stories of a local resident I would like to get to know better, Nii Tackie, my adoption father."

Mahmud, Melih en NasirNASIR (l) & MAHMUD (r), ADOPTION BROTHERS OF MELIH
Searching, wandering, escaping. Through the dessert, across the Meditarranean Sea, in a plain, passing customs, still sand in their clothes. 'KLM' and 'alstublieft' are the first Dutch words.
Mahmud & Nasir: "We are here, in De Bijlmer with our new brother Melih. We wait, sleap, wait and wait for your arrival so we can carry and pass on our boundlessness... We are here... where do you wander?"

Yun Sheng, Sulan en NoralyYUN SHENG & SULAN, ADOPTION PARENTS OF NORALY
Noraly: "Sulan and Yun Sheng come from a far. They left China 34 years ago and ended up in Limburg. Now they live, for 8 eight already, in De Bijlmer. I recognice myself in the departure from somewhere to somewhere else, to find peace in the end in a daily cup of bami soup or tjauwmin with now and then a suprise of a thousand year old duck egg."

Sophia & WassimSOPHIA, ADOPTIEMOEDER VAN WASSIM
o Sophia ...
To the nectar of her young soul
Her little hands ... The tip of her spirit
Why is all of this beauty hiding behind her ornery?!!!

Thomas & De PolsstokPRIMARY SCHOOL DE POLSSTOK,
ADOPTION HOUS OF THOMAS
Thomas: " 'Nooooooo!', 24 toddlers scream, first and second grade pre schoolers of Miss Sheila at primary school De Polsstok. No, I can not make them believe I am 5 years old. But when I say: 'I am 41 but I feel like I am 5 years old.', then it is okay. And we play with the blocks, the little cars and we paint and talk in the circle. I lurn about who I am and I lurn about the soul, being friends, snot on your sleeve and peace. And Miss Sheila looks over us."

Nazmiye & LetitiaLETITIA, ADOPTION MOTHER OF NAZMIYE

Letitia: "At the moment my umbilical cord was cut, I was myself."

Nazmiye: "Either we seek our freedom Without rear Without reject Belonging to yourself - as a daughter -... in intimate connection with the mother. "

NRC HANDELSBLAD | RON RIJGHARD |    ★
"The stories en route have softened us all. We are peeled open. That's the danger: the Safari is contagious. Before you know it, you lay down your shield and you meet strangers without reservation."

DE GROENE AMSTERDAMMER | LOEK ZONNEVELD
"The scooter ride ends in a parking garage, from the Bijlmer-Stone Age, here it is a monument. We watch a short film with participants from other routes, a swiftly edited story by Adelheid Roosen about the phenomenon of time. The Safari is time traveling after all, through a landscape what was guilty and stiff not so long ago, sighed under Dantes curse: "Who enters here, relinquished all hope." [...] Four hours later. I'm torn! And I want again tomorrow."

DE TELEGRAAF | COLETTE BOEGMAN |
"The Bijlmer safari, by bus, the subway, on the back of the scooter and by foot, is full of surprises and forces you to think. Because of the stories of the residents and the lyrics of the musicians on the street. In an original wayyou make a trip through the neighborhood and yourself. [...] Once again, getting locals and outsiders closer together is extremely well done. There, on the square visitors and admirers look each other in the eyes and for a moment they are all equally one."

THEATERKRANT | LOEK ZONNEVELD |
"[..] therefore it is also purebred-theater: with Nii Tackie and Elly Ludenhoff we are a bit less lonely. And we experience the backstage of what was strange for us yesterday. Two unexpected incidental catches of good theater."

DE VOLKSKRANT | PATRICK VAN DEN HANENBERG |

"A prejudice pops up in my head when a car drives over the pavement with howling wheels and stops right in front of the pedestrians. Then the Zambian-Dutch singer Naomi van der Linden gets out of the car, gives the audiance a drink while singing a blissful gospel and disappears. The Bijlmer Safari is a four hour party."

HET PAROOL | SANDER JANSSENS | ★ ★ ★
"[...] honest, transparent scenes which can suddenly be confronting. Because of the intimate setting, in the garden or at the dining room, the personal stories get very close. [...]
WijkSafari Bijlmer shows how different people are displaced in completely different ways - and yet try to feel at home. It's all about the value of that search."
